In an official blog post, Facebook said that “Starting today, we are making Timeline more widely available as we measure speed and other types of performance. We’ll begin by making it available to people in New Zealand and then roll it out more broadly in the near future.”

Timeline is Facebook’s attempt at completely overhauling user’s profiles. Announced in September at its F8developers conference, the feature has at its core one simple idea: Giving users a way to represent their whole life in one place.

Timeline is designed to give users a single place to go to see their friends, photos, relationship statuses, and more. These highlights are shown in chronological order, and make it possible to look at a year, or more closely at individual months and days.

Since the F8 announcement, Facebook has made Timeline available to some developers, and it said that more than a million people have already been using the new feature. Now, it is starting the gradual roll-out across the social network’s hundreds of millions of users. Facebook has not said how long it will take to complete the roll-out.
